Gibbs Aquada
Puntiki: This (HSA) high speed anphibian vehicle is being produced in Europe by NZ's own Alan Gibbs, and is quickly demanding attention the world over. It is a vehicle that can be driven on the public roads at speeds up to 160kph, and used on the water at speeds of up to 50 kph. Imagine taking the harbour to work rather than the jam packed motorway?
It looks a little like the Mazda MX-5, and if it was purely a road car it wouldn't be all that special. But since you can go fishing with it and even tow a wake boarder it is quite amazing.
Sir Richard Branson who is the Virgin Airlines Boss and adventurer extrodanaire recently crossed the English Channel in a Aquada in 1 hour 40 minutes and six seconds. The time blitzing the previous anphibious record of about 6 hours.
The Gibbs Humdinga is the next vehicle being made. It looks a bit like a Lamborghini LM2002, and will be powered by a 350hp engine.
I expect to see some of these fun vehicles in Pauanui sometime soon.
Pablo: Clever Nyalan. The Aquada is an impressive technological achievement. It is super-cool, and clearly has integrity as both a car and a boat. But the real money maker for Nyalan Gibbs will be the licensing of the hybrid technology for other vehicle applications, such as for the military. Gibbs Technologies may be responsible for the future vast improvement of amphibious vehicles in Western armies.
But to illustrate how cool the Aquada is, I'll finish with a quote from Mr Gibbs himself. “With this you can have a really good car on the road, and an exciting toy that can tow a water skier, that you can commute to work with, that you can go to St. Tropez with and take two girlfriends.”

Cockeye
I remember the time you and Scotty sunk the boat. We certainly needed our sealegs then.
Not sure on that but more than likely.... I say BYE BYE HELEN.
Well that is why it is thme for her to go... wonder what sort of car she owns herself?
Nyalan Gibbs' tanks are cooler, but not by much. Something very James Bond about this car.
The CLS looks a lot like a Falcon from the back....
