Is this the worlds most repugnant car?

This is the newly released Mercedes Benz R63 AMG.

Puntiki:I personally think it looks like a hearse with some big wheels. I can't imagine what was going on in the design chiefs head when he or she ticked this one off. I am wondering if they are trying to get a "Bangle" reputation, but this time it is actually worthy of negative publicity. This car is UGLY.

Now having said that, the engine powering this vehicle is worthy of note. It is the first engine that AMG has built for a production Mercedes Benz that wasn't designed off a current Benz engine. It was designed from scratch by AMG and shares no Benz parts.

The AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine generates an output of 375 kW/510 hp at 6800 rpm and a maximum torque of 630 newton metres at 5200 rpm. This makes the new AMG powerpack the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine in terms of specific output and specific torque.

This unique combination of a high-revving engine design and a large displacement offers the best of both worlds: exhilarating liveliness accompanied by powerful torque from low engine speeds.

The R63 AMG will go 0-100kph in 5.0

"Regal" is a word well and truly gone from Mercedes' vocabulary. A hearse? I'll take that, though to me it looks like a panel van. Here they go again, creating an unnecessary niche instead of concentrating on the basics of what made them once a hallowed name. If they saved what they spent on developing the B-, R-, and even the A-classes, and just made the C-, E-, and S-class cars dependable, durable, and reliable they'd make more money and keep their customers. Does the world really NEED this car?

That would be one fast car..... The slk55 is meant to be a better drive than the sl55 according to a guy I know that takes them around the track for AMG. THe engine is the only good thing about the R class.

yes, that is probably the reason..... But why buy the McLaren anyways when you can get the SL65 with 604hp?

I hear that the carbon brakes can be a bit average until they are warmed up. Also they last longer, and have better heat disipation, but these are not really track cars, they are more GT. I'd still take the SL65 over the McLaren. It is soooo much cheaper and I am not 100% on the SLR's looks.
