New Opel Insignia (Holden Vectra)
Hopefully this is a new generation moving forward from the Vectra days. The new model looks superb and looks to compete alongside the much loved Mazda6's.
They will go on sale in Europe meeting the current Euro 5 legislation on emmissions which is brillient considering it comes from Holden in a country NOT signed up to they Kyoto aggreement.
The new Insignia will come in either Manual or 6-speed automatic transmission in either a saloon or hatchback where the entry model will have a 4-cylinder 104kw petrol engine or choice of a 2.0 turbo diesel engine producing 97-120kw. At the high end there will be a V6 engine with 194kw.
It looks set to now rival the very well known Mazda 6 series and the Ford Mondeo's.

Funny, Holden dumped the Vectra here only to sell LESS of the cheaper Epicas than they did the more expensive Vectras. They should bring this car in. The interior, especially the dashboard, is far better than the Mondeo's cheap, silver plastic trim (I like the older Mondeo's dash better).
I didn't mind the CDX style of the latter Vectra but it still suffered the plastic fantastic interior of prior Vectra's. Indeed the interior of the Insignia is something else all together. Mondeo's are great cars but agree with tony in ref to interior. Hard for a Holden Fan to admit that.
The new Mondeo is doubtlessly top dog for FWD handling in any price bracket, but there is a right and wrong way to use plastic for the interior. The Vectra C (last one) inside still looked classy. I reckon design-wise, the Mondeo has just gone too whacky for me. Maybe it's my Audi leaning -- I always prefer a bit of tailored elegance in a car. What I rear is that, just like the new Mondeo, these current crop of cars have grown so heavy. At 1600 kg for the Mondeo, Accord Euro, Mazda6, etc., that's a good 250 kg heavier than my old A4.
Another good looking car from GM. Things are moving up.
I like the car. It sort of reminds me of BMW.
