2006 Mercedes Benz S class (new model)
I viewed 2 of these new S class Benz's on the I70 from Denver to Beaver Creek in August. I was impressed by the good looks and it appears that the engines are grunters with the 3.5 V6 producing 200kw/272hp, and the engine for the S500 develops 285kw/388hp which should propel the beast from 0-100kph in around 5.4 seconds. That is enough to beat the BMW 750i and whip the A8.
The output of the twelve-cylinder engine in the top-of-the-range S 600 has increased to 380 kW/517 hp, while torque has increased by just under four percent to a remarkable 830 Newton metres from 1900 rpm. WOO HOO, tire burning power.
As standard equipment, the V6 and V8 engines in the new S-Class are combined with the unique seven-speed automatic transmission 7G-TRONIC. Hope they fixed the teething problems.
Every 5 - 7 years BMW and Mercedes Benz bring out a stunner of a car. It looks like it is time for MB to shine.

No, this one's the body just out, rather than the one still current in NZ. I like the look of this car, it's modern, and not as outlandish as some of their latest cars (like the R-class). What DON'T I like? The dashboard. My choice of engine? I think Merc's got one of these 4-litre superturbodiesels which top 260 km/h and still do 10 km/L in city driving.
This model wont be in NZ for some time. It was released this week in Frankfurt.. Cant you notice that it looks different?
It is a good looking car. Will be efficent and fast too.
African dictator will be keeping the 1991 S320
